Lasting Impressions
Jan 18th, 2015 by andreaharris
As I look forward to another year of new art, it is important for me to thank my galleries, clients and friends for a special and successful 2014.
A special “thank you” to Amsterdam Whitney International Fine Art Gallery, Bluestone Fine Art Gallery, Gallery H, Galleria Monteoliveto & MLG (Michael Laconte Gallery).
Looking back, 2014 was a a year of discovery, as I once again enjoyed a residency abroad hosted by Galleria Monteoliveto.
My time in Napoli and Pollena Trocchia, Italy was filled with getting to know the flavor of the of the region– both literally and figuratively. I enjoyed walking the streets of Napoli, meeting the people, visiting historic sites and soaking the warmth of the Italian sunshine. Trekking Vesuvius was an added bonus with spectacular views of Napoli and Sorrento.
The focus of my residency was to create paintings of places that most impressed me. I considered all that I experienced and decided to paint the captivating Isle of Procida, located in the Gulf of Napoli. The rainbow-colored buildings, gardens and peaceful surroundings completely stole my heart.
After spending time at Vesuvius, I also chose to capture my emotional impressions on canvas.
My return back home was highlighted by two spectacular gallery events.
MLG
On Friday, November 14th, MLG (Michael Laconte Gallery) honored me with a spectacular 10th anniversary party, in celebration of MLG representing my artwork in Chicago.
The 10-year retrospective, Impressions, A Retrospective, featured forty of my paintings. The gallery hosted a capacity group of clients, friends and guests that enjoyed champagne, canapés and the most decadent chocolate cake! Thank you Michael Laconte for hosting such a fabulous event.
AMSTERDAM WHITNEY INTERNATIONAL GALLERY
December 18th marked a most celebratory Holiday Exhibition at Amsterdam Whitney International Gallery in Chelsea, New York City.
I am thrilled to have two paintings selected as “Collector’s Choice” exhibited from December 12, 2014 until January 27th, 2015.
During the December 18th gala event, I was elated to be interviewed by Manhattan’s Prime Time TV personality, Kristal Heart. Kristal is a warm, vivacious interviewer, and it is always exciting to share discussions about my art with her.
Distinguished guests and collectors, along with champagne and savory appetizers catered by Dean & Deluca, were the perfect combination for a delightful evening.
While in New York City, I took the opportunity to visit two outstanding museum exhibitions. I was so overtaken with the extraordinary scope of both exhibitions, that I chose to write reviews.
Henri Matisse: The Cut-Outs is currently on view at the Museum of Modern Art through February 10th, 2015, and Cubism: The Leonard A. Lauder Collection can be seen through February 16, 2015 at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Onward into 2015!

Une spéciale “merci” à Whitney Gallery Amsterdam International Fine Art, Bluestone Fine Art Gallery, Galerie H, Galleria Monteoliveto & MLG (Michael Laconte Galerie).
