ANDREA HARRIS TAKES TIMES SQUARE
Jun 18th, 2012 by andreaharris
Over the past three months, thousands of artists participated in a groundbreaking way to have their work discovered and exposed to the world– the Art Takes Times Square competition. Thank you to all who voted for my artwork.
How exciting to learn that my mosaic, Portraits: Beyond Boundaries, was one of many artworks chosen to be shown in Times Square! Monday, June 18th, images of my art were shown between 9:30 & 10:00PM at the NASDAQ Tower, located at Broadway & 43rd Street. This iconic billboard was transformed into an immense display of art. In addition to the NASDAQ Tower, the Reuters Tower was also selected as a destination for selected artists’ works.

Beyond Boundaries is a mosaic of international portraits –a global tribute to women who have stepped outside their “boundaries,” in spite of monumental odds, to courageously obtain their dreams. The series embraces the legacy created by contemporary acts of personal triumphs that inspire women to pursue their imaginings. It is a celebration of their spirit.
This mosaic is only a segment of the monumental, ongoing series that I began in 2004. Most of the Women of Courage have been nominated by their families, friends and acquaintances. Some are famous for standing up to life-threatening forces, others are not famous but are recognized for their inner strength.
